A high-performance POS interface built for rapid checkout with real-time inventory sync, designed to keep cashier errors low during the busiest hours.

Swift POS

01 / The Narrative

A cashier under pressure needs a screen that reacts instantly, not one that makes them wait and second-guess a tap. Swift POS was built around that single constraint: interaction speed. I designed a cleanly isolated front-end architecture that handles concurrent sessions across multiple cashier terminals, while the Supabase backend integration moved fast thanks to a tightly optimized, AI-assisted workflow.

The Challenge

The system needed to sync transactions and inventory updates from several cashier terminals to the server at the same time, without freezing the UI or creating a bottleneck anyone would notice at the register.

The Solution

I used an optimistic UI strategy: the interface updates instantly on the cashier's screen the moment they act, while server-side validation runs quietly in the background. If something needs correcting, it happens after the fact, invisibly, rather than making the cashier wait for it up front.

02 / Impact & Highlights

Result

Built for real production use in high-traffic retail settings, the optimistic UI approach brings perceived transaction latency down to near zero, which translates directly into faster checkout lines and higher cashier throughput during rush hours.

Technical Highlights

  • 01Optimistic UI updates, zero perceived latency on every transaction
  • 02Real-time inventory sync across concurrent cashier sessions via Supabase
  • 03TypeScript-strict architecture built to stay maintainable long-term
  • 04Framer Motion micro-interactions that don't cost any performance
